Thanks man. I've always considered the Sportster more of an independent bikers bike so I they'll have to try a lot harder to get to me.

Hey I like it. Due to back related issues, I am going to be getting rid of my FLHTCU and going back to sportster, but hate giving up the bagger convenience. Question for ya, do the hard bags eliminate pillion foot pegs?

The amazon kit I used didn't go up to my year but it gave me something to work with. I still have the back pegs and I think normally you would.

My back's messed up too but if you can spin a wrench you can make these Sportsters ride a lot better. If you rode mine you'd probably be pleasantly suprised.

Yea these Ultras do not ride like Cadillacs either. The heavier weight is more stable in high crosswinds, but thats about the only difference. The floor boards help, but I will be putting boards on a sportster.

The batwing made a difference. I have the clear flat Plexiglas too.

From Sportster Bagger thread - https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...l#post18295070

The pillion peg can just be made out. I believe the saddlebags are from here - https://www.tsukayu.com/HardbagsforSportster.html

Back in 2018 handirifle you asked about the same saddlebags.

Funny you mention that. Sunday, I rode my ultra to my sons house in Los Angeles, 200 miles away, for a trip he set up for me and his twin brother, the 3 of us. He flew us to Oregon to make knives at Vonhelmick "Forge a Knife", near Salem. We all three made knives, and flew home Tuesday. Great time. Now to the actual HD point, lol. The ride home was windy as crap, and I was greatful to be on the big beast because of how well it handled the nasty winds and gusts. My sportster with just a windshield went all over the place in a similar ride. I was wondering if it was the batwing that made a big difference, or the weight, or both.

I self concluded, it was probably both. Good to hear the batwing alone makes a noticeable difference.

Those bags look like std HD bags to me. Are they the newer style (Rushmore) or the older style?

Andy, you have too good of a memory, lol. I do know there are kits available, reasonably priced too, that allow and fully support, HD bagger bags. No more hobbling together detachable mounts. Also no more having to deal with tiny bags. Well, except the ones under my eyes, lol.
