I've owned Harleys since the 1970s and have had good and bad experiences with the rear brakes. On occasions it has been a real swine to get the rear brake to bleed and work properly, on others (more recently) I have connected a new empty brake line and the darned thing has bled in a blink, giving a good hard brake. So don't be put off - but don't blame me if things don't work out pdq!

So, that's a different bike (mine is a 2003, last of the rigid mounts, has different exhaust mounts than 2004+), and a different exhaust from SuperTrapp. They do state that the version for earlier models can work with forwards, and I did see evidence of it, but it requires a different/bend connecting rod for the rear brake pedal, and presumably an extension for the footpeg. Doable, but the exact parts needed are not clear. And SuperTrapp is not responsive to email, IME.

It does fit but there is some bending and grinding you have to do. I had to bend the brake rod a pretty good deal and grind the brake lever where it flares out at the bushing. And I added a shield as well as your foot is damn close to that pipe. I also extended out the brake pedal so I could stay further away from the pipe with my foot when braking.

As you can see it is a very tight fit but it did work and I rode this way for a couple years with no problems. The only reason I went back to mids w/ highway pegs is at higher speeds on the hwy it was really tough to keep my feet on the pegs with the LaPera bare bones solo seat. I am only 5'8". With the mustang solo seat and mids hwy riding is pretty nice but I don't do a lot of it anyway.

I put the catch can back on today. I thought I'd try the DK Customs style breather bolts but they spit oil pretty good once the sponge gets saturated (which is pretty fast). I thought being a new engine it would throw less vapor out the breather but no not really. The catch can makes for a much cleaner ride.

Replaced the original sprocket cover with a combined sprocket and pulley cover. Was may plan since two years. Thought this must be done by a mechanic. But after two winters of learning how to deal with all the nuts and bolts on my Sporty, I did it by my own.

Well done ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I wish Rick's made one of these for a 31 tooth front sprocket...I'd already have one myself...

Got any current pics of the hose/routing & catchcan location ? Now that you mentioned the 'breather bolts',
I see them in the previous picture above....

thanks!

The staff at Rick's are very helpful, maybe they will build it for you in the extra size? They replaced my cover after more than 1 year after I bought it because I ordered the wrong size, at no extra cost. Was still a newbie and thought every Sportster had a 30 tooth pulley....

If you are willing to experiment, you can make something 'sort of' similar. Of course Ricks version
will probably look better, but here is what I did ~9 years ago (then switched it up later).

Find a sprocket cover that you like - then make the hole in the stock cover just big enough
to expose only the sprocket cover.... Here's a pic of what I am referring to. I used a
sprocket cover from Figure Machine (which is no longer in business)

good luck & hth,

T.
