Why the chain conversion? Just because?
Thank you! The paint turned out real nice, sprayed well, no drips. It's just stove paint from HD, but I already did the headpipes over 2 years ago and only up by the ports and crossover pipe did they discolor and get a bit unsightly. I had the chrome heat shields in a box since my 1250 upgrade. I expect the painted heat shields won't get as hot near the ports and will hold up as well as the lower half of the headpipes, which look like freshly painted after more than 2 years. And, I just painted over the chrome, no sanding. Go figure.

My bike actually came stock with a chain, I think the next to last year it was offered. Being frugal, I bought the basic black Standard Model XLH883, only chain drive model still sold at the time.

Been a little chilly lately, but next weekend supposed to be 80 degrees on Xmas day. One of the best benefits of living in SoCal, we can usually count on a " Santa" Ana Christmas! There's a couple of bumps on PCH I'd like to try out the new shocks on and see how they feel. I couldn't find any one here or on xlforum that had tried them, so I took the plunge and will see how it works out. I got them for just under $300, and they came in a Progessive Suspension outer box, so they are OEM for Burly. I'm optimistic, install was easy, got about 1" sag right now, which is supposed to be about right for the 3.6" travel of these shocks. I will definitely post up a separate report after a ride.

Yea our temps are nice for riding. I live about 200mi north of ya, near the 101, and our morning lows have lately been low 30's and topping out mid 40's. If I ride, its usually around midday. Still looking to downgrade from my Ultra to a sporty, so will be interested in your ride.

Yes, too cold in the morning, and too cold when I get home near sunset to take a ride. But, we don't have to shovel snow!

Looked at it!

Over the past week we have had sub zero temperatures during the day and then much lower during the night sometimes going down to -7 or -8°C. Today the temperature shot up to 12°C and the bike is dripping in condensation.

For our American friends, the above translates to 19.4 Fahrenheit to 17.6 Fahrenheit and 53.6 Fahrenheit.

I don't use metric measurements either.

When our ATC weather system adopted the metric weather system, we quickly adopted the "double it and add 30" rule of thumb. Gets us darn close. The actual formula is (C temp x 9/5) + 30. So the "rule of thumb" gets ya pretty close. In decimal, 9/5 is 1.8

You have to add 32 not 30 in the conversion formula.

0°C = 32°F

Sent it to service. It's regular service time (7000 km since last service) plus dead electric part as well. Meanwhile I will have a vacation.
