Drove mine to work for the first time since mid-January.

Removed the starter to get rebuilt back in late January. Just finished it up this weekend. Also did the shorter foot peg clevis' and new Kuryakyn Large ISO foot pegs and shifter peg. Installed new battery and oil tank covers (plastic), what a weight difference. Removed the right passenger peg since I had the exhaust off.

I'll get a video and some pictures when I can.

Unless its totally driving you crazy just run it, or you can always pull the tank and send it out for a repaint. A shop franchise called The Dent Guy may take on a job like that and they can paint match and reapply decals if you want.

Put some shorter straight risers on and put my new points cover on.

The points cover is made from clear resin with copper flakes in it

I have a pair of those ribbed ABS plastic side covers on my 2011 Iron 883.

Finally got around to starting my 883 to 1275 build a couple of days ago. I installed the Energy One extra plate clutch and spring about a month ago and finally decided I needed to get busy with the rest of the conversion. To recap, the build is a Hammer 1275 kit with their 560 cams and 10.5:1 compression pistons. I'm using a set of late XL1200 heads that Hammer treated to a competition valve job (the valve throats look great and are very nicely blended).

I started with the cams, after removing the exhaust, rocker covers and pushrods. I left the lifters in place and pushed them out of the way as needed. The bike only has a thousand or so miles on it so I'm confident the lifters are in good shape.

Cam cover pulled and cams, pinion gear and pump drive gear removed:

Bronze pump drive gear installed, pinion gear reinstalled and torqued down. 75 lb/ft used as per Hammer's recommendation.

I had to lightly chamfer the lobes of the #2 and #3 cams to prevent them from rubbing on the pinion bearing boss.

I slipped each cam in individually and rotated them by hand to make sure there was no interference anywhere, then mocked them all up.

Everything looked good, so I pulled them out and lubed them with assembly lube and reinstalled them.

Everything looked good, so I put the cam cover back on and torqued it down.

Done with the cams.

Next: On to the cylinders and heads. Maybe this weekend....

they were on the bike when we bought it from Suburban Motors , they are plastic or fiberglass, quick release, I doubt that they would hold any weight , but would be able to keep a few things in there . The quick release is a nice feature for sure

Took my 2020 Iron 1200 out to run some fuel thru it and round off the tires on a quick visit back to our Northern base to take care of some business before heading back south to enjoy the warm temps till it warms up in the north. Man the Sporty is such a blast!
