Took it back from dealership where they did a scheduled 16 000 KM maintenance and Stage 1 hardware installation. Asked them to leave battery cover open, so when I came I connected my PowerVision and installed the 19X074002302 tune. Shown them how Power Vision works, they used to install FP3 for their customers.

This is how it idles now. It feels like now it has more "dying idling" sound effect, is that OK for Sportsters?
Also, feels like SE pipes are a little bit heavier than stock ones.

This is how it throttles (a little)

Will test all this better tomorrow on my way to work and back. It seems they have an update (I bought my PV earlier), so it is worth to install new firmware and compare.

By the way, asked the technician how do they remove a battery cower so easily (I know that it often tends to fly away, but mine holds for its dear life so strongly that it is hard to open). And he shown me how to ****** a diagnostic port from under the side cover without opening it.

On the idle just check that it is around 1000 rpm when the engine is fully warmed up but not less than 950. At that speed I believe the oil pump is ineffective.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Rode to work today - solid pleasure! Idling is same as on stock setup. Runs smooth, much better behaves now it when happens to run on low RPMs, where it used to shake and stutter with stock hardware.
Feels like a bit less of engine braking now, probably this is reasonable with the less restrictive exhaust. However, I feel lack of engine braking all the time, compared to my old Pegaso.

Funny detail, Harley technicians lost the clutch cable restraining clamp (which is bolted to under the eyebrow). Most of Sportsters I see around have jettisoned this redundant part a long time ago.

Is your clutch cable now touching the eyebrow. I just checked mine and it seems the clamp / bracket holds it away from it. Their mishap, theirs to rectify.

Nice on the engine. Just a little extra fuel makes a big difference.

One week into Bobber ownership and the bad weather at the weekends meant that I had time to work on the bike and I’ve done this:

Fixed a charging issue I had (bad earth on the regulator).
Cleaned out the carb and adjusted mixture.
New Iridium plugs and performance silicon leads.
Replaced the rose joints on front brake
Adjusted chain and wheel alignment.
Welded a bit to the bottom of the side stand so it does not lean over as much
Adjusted the side stand spring so it does not wobble about when shut.
Welded an extension arm to the side stand.
Made a new throttle stop inside the brass throttle so the slack can come out of the cable.
Made new nylon bushes for the pegs so they sit straight and the nylon helps against vibration.
Re-wrapped the exhaust with a double layer near the pegs to stop your boots catching fire!
Painted the battery black.
Increased the size of the air vent in the lid to help with vacuum starvation at full throttle.
Fabricated a stronger seat base to stop wobble.
Removed the seat springs and fitted Air-ride system.
Made a brass double dome nut fitting for the seat.
Adjusted the preload on the front forks.
Adjusted the brake and clutch take up positions.
Cut down the fork lugs so they don’t foul the hub.
Welded the numberplate holder.
Padded out the battery holder so it sits flat and works better.
Added more brass bolts.
Re-routed some of the cabling for a cleaner look.
Fitted wireless quad lock.
…….and ridden 200miles testing the changes 😉

The seat springs are gone and I'm now riding on air.

A Couple of photos from the weekend (still using to original seat base and springs to stabilise the seat).

It's been quite a while since I've posted here for a variety of reasons, but I got this from Hammer Performance a while back:

For the wife's Iron 883. Reworked 1200XL heads and proper pushrods are on the way from Hammer as we speak. Impact 560 cams and bronze oil pump gear soon to follow. Should be roughly comparable to Hammer's 100+ hp kit.

I already have an Energy One clutch waiting for installation. I'll be working on this through the winter, as the riding season is over for us.

Finished the last of my basic comfort/utility mods on my Iron 1200. I decided I didn’t want to spend $200 bucks on Harley highway pegs, but I still spent nearly half of that. Do the companies that make products like this think Sportster riders don’t want highway pegs?

Anyway, after a little jerry rigging, I can stretch out.
