It's a Harley Davidson 18" Windshield, Part Number: 57801-11. It's better then the 14" Windshield that came stock on XL1200T's. I'm 6 feet tall with a 30" inseam. The 14" windshield was worse then terrible. Lots of buffeting and deafening wind noise. It was a better ride with no windshield at all.

The 18" is about level with my chin. It isn't perfect in comparison to an Electra Glide or Road Glide but it is acceptable. If it was another inch or 2 taller it would be better.

Thanks - I'm considering a National Cycle Low Boy which is 16"H x 18.75"W. I'm 5'10" and like to look over my WS by 3-4" and by my 'tape measure' estimates it may just work.

Stock 14" Windshield off the XL1200T.
I like a windshield to be about nose level just so I can see over it. The Sportster I / we own is intended for the wife but I ride it or put more miles on it then she doesn't, She is (5' 10") and she has no complaints about the 18" windshield.

Thanks, good to know these details. With my 5'10" it must be nearly perfect.

Happy wife - happy life. I'd like a little taller but the 18" was the tallest I could find Harley Davidson, aftermarket or otherwise.

I didn't know how much more comfortable it was to have a backrest until I got a big tailbag and mounted it in front of the rack on the rear of the seat. Even when I'm not using it, I like it there. I also put Harley take off air shocks on it, never would have called my 1200C comfortable until I changed the seat and shocks.

I finally found a windshield with almost no buffeting or wind coming up from under, a National Cycle Plexifairing, but it still has a strong wind roar. Seems strange that windshields are usually louder than none at all. When I'm going slow enough to not get much wind noise, it directs the top end engine mechanical noises at me, didn't realize how much mechanical noise a sportster made till I put a windshield on it.

Size matters here, I use the HD 14" on my custom and it's great for me... at 5' 7"

My '07 had a 14" and it worked well for me, at 5'7". However, when I removed the windshield and took a ride, I could not believe how loud the wind noise in my helmet was, and the wind just blasted me. I put it back on and it never came off after that.

Yes even the fairing on my Ultra Classic send engine noises up to me. I would rather that than getting beat up by the wind. The sportster was the first windshield bike I ever owned. Now I will not ride without one. On that note, when I did my test ride of the Pan Am Special, I wondered if that little windshield would actually do anything. Well at 90 I still didn't feel any of the old pressure on the chest, helmet, or buffeting. Needless to say, I was impressed. If my Ultra ever gets too heavy, it will step aside for a PA. The PA is what I would try to make a sportster into, if I ever got another. At almost twice the price of a new 1200, I definitely will not have it AND the Ultra.
