The spring seat i added is an inexpensive budget version. The padding is minimal and the seat area is fairly small. Shape is good for my smaller size. I have 3 seats now, the original is by far the best for full tank stretches and all day riding, but the spring seat does absorb sharp edged hits nicely. It works good for around town and my addition was totally for the looks. I will be leaving it on even for longer rides.

Regardless, I really like the look of it on your bike.

Shortened the kick stand, changed the primary fluid and adjusted chain, put a chrome stabilizer link on,used 3m polishing compound on the tank, rubbed to a brilliant shine, then waxed.brightened the aluminum back up.rode it on the back roads enjoying the fall air and watching the leaves fall....in the course of about 2 weeks while putting on another 500 miles on bike....on a side note for those that are lowered and have a peg scraping problem in the curves, get the mini floor boards.they are thin towards the out side allowing for all the lean u need... EDIT..and changed plug wires to yellow.was getting a weak spark on the rear plug and thats what it was.

Added the H-D Sundowner seat and Bitubo shocks to the 1200 Custom. Much more comfortable ride.

That seat came on my '08 883, and I never cared for how it pushed me forward. But it was sure cushioned well.

I really liked the Sundowner on my '07. When riding 300+ mile days it was worth its weight in gold.

I recently ran across a couple at a McDonalds in Kettleman City, Ca. that was riding 2 up on a sporty with a saddleman seat. They were riding from Hisperia, Ca to Yosemite CA. Thats over 340 miles, 2 up, and they were older than me, I think, and had not one complaint.

I can't disagree with you a bit on the comfort of that seat. On my '08, I replaced it with a narrow "2-up" seat. Really, just a small pillion behind the driver seat. It was pretty comfortable for 100 miles or so, but I also had forward controls and rear passenger pegs, so I could vary my foot positions to get the blood in my butt moving, ha! I like the stock seat on my new Iron 1200. I particularly like its look, and it has a surprising amount of cushion, but it too is only comfy for relatively short distances. So I'm adding rear passenger pegs and highway pegs to the stock mid pegs. I think I'll be okay for at least the duration of a tank of gas, which is about 150 miles. I'll be able to change positions a lot.

Rode the **** out of my Ironhead up and down our local twisties. Still the greatest hoot ever to ride on a winding road.
