What did you do to Your Sportster Today?
If you don't mind, what was the final cost?
A few months ago it cost me right at $700. Since I couldn't DIY there was not any choice. Completed same day.
The dealer quoted $50 less but no guarantee of how long it would take 1 - 6 weeks!
WOW!
Sounds more like an RV dealer, than an HD.

I rode my partner's trike the other day for the first time in about 18 months. It is a 2008 Custom with 17,000 on the clock.
Her engine is stock and sounds real nice. There is no transmission noise, no general extraneous odd sounds and very little top end noise. In comparison mine sounds horrible.
I just don't have a clue when riding where the noise is coming from with my bike. It does sound like the transmission is whining when just shutting the throttle and allowing the bike to coast. It might be some big lump of metal vibrating in an odd way. Then there is the not one but goodness only knows how many sewing machines are running in the top end.
Starts good, changes gear good, easy to find neutral, etc. Sustained runs over 70 no problem.
While she is not looking I think I might have to effect a swap!

So far these tires are worth every penny. Roads have been pretty wet, they have stopped, took off just great, etc., even being new, lots of wet traction. Stopping is much better than any other tire I have had on this bike. If they last a while that would be even better.
Most quotes I got were $700+ depending on the tire.

You are probably correct!
I have db killers, a couple of washers and a rod to hold them in place blocking the very central 1.25", in my mufflers and never thought to check them. One of them was loose. It needed a couple of washers as the thread appears to of been damaged by being loose.
That has made quite a difference.

Rode it for a couple of hours or so. Later I picked up the braided stainless steel clutch, throttle cables, and front brake line from the shop I'd ordered them from. I got the clutch cable installed and gave up, too damn hot out. I'll get the throttle cables on tomorrow morning, and maybe the brake line before it heats up again.
