Today, I had another chance to prove that I am an idiot. I was tinkering with the carb in the mancave and when I put everything back together, the bike wouldn't start. How could that be? I took the carb off again and found that I had not seated the carb to intake manifold rubber boot properly. I put everything back together correctly, this time and the bikes started immediately and ran perfectly. Another learning experience. Oh well, the ride afterwards was even more rewarding than usual. I love my 2005 XL883.

Rode about 120 miles this afternoon, already doing my part on eradicating the insect population...

The glass on my speedometer on my 2006 883 custom is cracked. It doesn't leak, and has not affected its function. However, I would like to replace the speedometer. Is this merely a 'plug-and-play' replacement? The odometer has ~10,000 miles. Has anyone have info. on how to do this? thank you!

And yet when people post their problems and they swear they put everything back together properly!

It should have 2 allen screws on the back side (front of bike) for attachment then a harness plug, that's it.

Good! That's happy news: I don't have to concern myself with any other issues in the install.

Nothing. Apparently the local dealer does not deem my electrical problem important enough to look into after over a week. So no riding for me. In perfect weather.

Maybe all of the bikes that came in after I dropped mine off have more urgent problems, but... *grumble* I'm finding it difficult to give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

I know this is not a sportster thing but, looked for one of these for a long time. found one and took the bad fluorescent tube out and put in a LED strip.
