Hooked up the NOCO Genius 1 to keep the battery viable. Between the weather and the kid, I don’t see many trips in our near future. I did buy her a helmet and a buddy harness, though, so when Mother Nature allows, and the shopping list will fit in the compacts, we’ll be hittin’ the bricks !!

Y’all have a good week !!

Went on a ~300 mile ride today with my son. Was a bit chilly early, but
I had the windshield on and it turned out to be a great day. The ol' Iron
did great.

Everyone has seen these a thousand times, but here it is again.
This is the difference between the Iron fork damper tube (top) and a Roadster...
(yes, I'm in the process of switching to the Roadster version)

hth,

T.
It would be great to see some in process photos. Like one fork done sitting in the triple tree adjacent to one that is not done!
I am going to do the Trackerdie damper eventually. I have a Low model so I will get an extra bump in ride height. I think its +4 or +6 with their kit. A standard Iron would get either +2 or +4.

...snip...
I hear what your saying, but this is all really old stuff - easily found here (HDForum) and XLForum with a google search.

I mean, 2" is.. well 2 inches. Jack the bike up, remove the front wheel & mesasure to the ground, then subtract
whatever you're gonna do, the Roadster tubes or the TrackerDie versions to get an idea of what you'll end up with.
TrackerDie even as a youtube video for their kit (which you've probably seen).

Hardest thing for me is gettin' that dang fork tube cap back on...

good luck,

T.

Speaking of that pesky fork tube cap, here's how I got it on solo in about 30 seconds.
I have the Joker Machine caps, which are 23mm, so thats the socket shown in the picture.
I have a wood clamp from Lowe's, a bearing, and a spacer. The spacer fits over the top
of the socket wrench so that the bearing will sit flat against it, then the top of the clamp
sits on the bearing. I juggled the alignment with one hand, then & turned it in in
after working the clamp to tighten the cap down into the tube with the other. The
bottom of the clamp is fitted agains the lower tree - on the side where the pinch bolt is.

Went ahead & took a picture of the gadget setup...

hth,

T.

Ok, last post on this conversion - I promise...

I measured the length difference and got 1.75", which jives with
most info I've read when using the Roadster tubes...

For Iron owners, if you're collecting parts ahead of time,
depending on how picky you are, you may want to get
a longer set of gaiters. The Stock gaiters are too short
to reach all the way to the lower tree. Even with the added
space of a SuperBrace, the stocker is still too short. I like an
all-black look, so I want a gaiter that is longer to reach the tree.
I'm gonna have to get a new longer set.

The first day of winter and I got out for a short ride (50 miles or so)......in South Dakota that's a real plus.
