Ok I have been putting it off for months I am finally going to fix the nose dive up front. Also going to try and clean up the crappy looking sliders. I guess there is no easy way to pull those reflectors off. Would like to reuse them, just because. Will post pics soon
Just figured out my little mini lathe is too small to chuck the fork caps. Was going to add drain plugs. Lot cheaper than buying them like that.

The paint stripper I used took the residue off no problem.
I cleaned up the reflectors and applied new auto type tape and stuck back on.
ends together, making a loop. Insert fingers inside the loop & twist the ends opposite
of each other creating a 'twist'. This really allows the line to 'cut' through the adhesive.
hope this helps,
T.

Did the best thing possible with a Sporty today: just rode it. Rode up to a friend’s house as I’d threatened to do, simply because the drive/ride is so damn pretty. Even passed the Blue Comet MC clubhouse in Skippack both ways. Still a bit chilly out, but so worth it. Said hi to my friends from their driveway, maintaining good Social Distance, and headed home. Good timing all around. Hopefully can get out for longer tomorrow. Now, to drinking!
Question.
I have the forks apart, and even got 2 of the holes welded up and smoothed the welds. Trying to install it, the cup that goes over the bottom tip of the damper tube, will not fit back to the bottom of the fork tube. There are 4 alignment tabs to guide it but it will not go past them. I even found a long steel tube in my shop, that fits perfectly inside the cup, and have tried for 30 min to slip it back in there, but no go.
What the heck? Am I missing something?

I have a confession to make. I've been defending my stock mufflers forever because I thought they were loud enough. I couldn't understand all the fuss about how they could be quiet. Mine sure didn't sound quiet to me. After several visits to the local Harley dealers, I've been noticing how much quieter the stock mufflers are on all models of their pipes as they've been entering and leaving the service areas. It had not occurred to me that the previous owner of my Sporty may have modified the stock mufflers. I shined a flash light into each of mine and saw that central plate was gone - completely. Only the side packing is still inside. No wonder I couldn't understand why everyone was talking about how quiet the stock pipes are! Mine are relatively quiet at idle. When I accelerate, they are almost as loud as my buddy's Screamin' Eagles. Live and learn.
