I kind of like the look (it's growing on me) and I felt bad throwing it out as the previous owner certainly overpaid for this original HD toolbag. I guess I could try putting some tools in there although I have never taken the bike beyond city limits (small city) so not sure what tools to include. Thanks!

Not having one of these yet, I'm curious why it couldn't just be mounted beneath the headlight without touching the front fender. Seems like that would be the ideal place for it. Besides, isn't that area in front of the oil filter where you have the bag now actually something that requires air cooling?

A bag that size WILL contact the fender, when mounted to the bottom triple tree. Pretty sure that was where he had it before and it rubbed. Not a lot of room in the front of a sporty.

Thats why I like the saddlebags. Lots of room for essentials, plus they lock, so it will slow thieves down a little.

Well, I have at least a Viking swing arm bag waiting to be mounted. Maybe I'll chuck essential tools in there. Was kind of hoping to be able to put tools up front though. Ah well.

Not interested in others opinions, but what does Packgrog consider "essential tools"?

I have no idea, dude. I'm an admitted noob, and have never asserted otherwise. Not real sure why I'm getting singled out here.

I'm not singling you out, it was a serious question. What tools do you consider to be essential? You have a tool bag, what do you plan on putting in it, other than "I have no idea"?

“Not interested in others opinions, but what does Packgrog consider...” is pretty much the definition of “singling out”. Which is what strikes me as weird.

The plan was to start with paperwork, tire gauge, fuses, Loctite, my Leatherman, a crescent wrench, probably some hex wrenches, and a rain jacket. I had separate sunglasses when I bought the swing arm bag that I hated carrying in my snug jacket, but I’ve since switched to Transitions lenses and don’t need that anymore. Beyond that, the plan was to ask for recommendations when I started doing longer rides.
