83 to 76 FRAME SWAP
Hey guys, new to the forum here. Ive been restoring/hot rodding cars for awhile. just picked up my first bike project, an 83 sportster.
turns out the motor is from 70-78. i found a good deal on a 76 frame. Im thinking about swapping everything over so that it is a period correct bike. i know the motor will obviously bolt right up, but what about the rest of the parts? what am i looking at replacing?

For period correct, you need a different swingarm, rear shocks, oil tank, battery box, rear fender, rear fender struts, seat, maybe the gas tank and front fender, the wheels and brakes, parts of the front fork, gauges, hand controls, fork neck may be set up for a smaller stem (I'm not sure when they changed to 1")...
That's about all that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more. If you aren't too concerned about being correct, fewer parts need to be changed.
