Default Cleaning the powder coat on engines?

Hey all, I can't seem to figure out how to clean the powder coating on motors...Grease, oil etc seems to stain it and won't come out?? Any secret techniques?

Is this the black crinkle engine finish you're talking about? If so, after you get it clean, spray it down with Pigspit, also known as plain old "silicone" - which incidentally costs damn near 300% less than the 'Spit. An even coat will bring everything back to new looking and will even out any differences in lightness/darkness.
