The HD shield buffeted like crazy for me. I swapped it for a re curve long ride shield and it almost completely went away.

To get rid of the remaining buffeting I installed the memphis shade lowers pictured earlier in this thread.

Now its perfect. Although I only use a shield in deep winter or really long trips.

I never thought of my tool bag as a fairing but all the comments on lowers remind me that it blocks the wind coming under the headlight. I attach mine to the windshield bracket and it comes off with the shield. I also use a magnetic tank bag on long trips to move weight forward. It also fills the space behind the shield and leaves less room for buffeting.
