Gas in the crotch...not fun
Just got home and could not change fast enough.
When I left the shop I stopped for gas. I put the gas cap back on, and turned it a couple of clicks past "tight".
About a mile down the road I smelled gas...looked down...no gas cap.
Pulled over and walked back 1/4 mile...Nothing.
Grabbed a rag and shoved it in the hole and rode back down the road slowly, flashers on. Went into the gas station, looked all around, checked at the desk...no cap turned in.
Rode the same mile again, slowly. No cap.
Bike is inside now. Tank cleaned, blue painters tape over the hole.
It was a cap I picked up from Low Brow. Imported.
When I first got it I was not impressed with it...it seemed to "click" to easily.
But it has held up for over 4000 miles. Then today...gone. Won't be getting another one of those.

That is a real drag !
About 12 years ago, when I was riding mostly dirt bikes, I was competing in an Enduro up in the Sierras, here in California. Took a crash that loosened the gas cap (I didn't notice) and got a crotch full of gas shortly afterward. I thought that I could finish the competition but after a while that stuff started to BURN and I dropped out and hightailed it back to the staging area.
It's even worse to suffer the discomfort and lose the gas cap, some bad ju-ju for sure ! Sorry, man -

I had this happen recently except it was rider error. I was fueling and when I was going to put the cap on I got distracted and didn't put it on properly. About a mile or so down the road and I feel the gas in my crotch. Luckily the gas cap was also in my lap. I put it back on while continuing to ride. But it wasn't fun.
Glad you're alright and it wasn't 420 time.

Always better to ride than be snowed in.
Yep, 93 octane, that **** burns.
I know it was on...clicked a couple times...then I did a pretty good wheelie leaving the gas station...if it was loose gas would have poured all over me...it was down the road a bit...just not sure where.
