Default Problem with blinkers

Hey everybody my dad has a 2001 sportster 1200 custom. When he turns on his accessories for his bike the brake lights work As well as the blinkers. When he starts the bike none of them work. He said he checked the fuses and they were all good. Any idea what might be wrong? I thought it was weird that they worked with his accessories on but not when it started. Ryan

Sounds strange! There is probably a problem, such as bad ground, or a damaged wire. These sorts of things are usually mechanical, in other words the electricity has found a different way around the wiring. Check the condition of the bulb holders, grounds and connectors to each light, also check for any damage or chafing. Disturb every ground and connector, to make sure they are clean.

Vibrations on these bikes can cause all kinds of issues, in time. Seems like you've got a bare wire grounding somewhere so definitely start tracing & look for areas where wires can rub/pinch. Good luck!
