Painting the motor tips?

Painting the motor tips?
I wanna paint the block, my jugs are black and both side covers are gloss black. I'm thinking about keeping the side covers, and valve covers gloss black and the rest flat black. How do you all think that will look? Leaving the Rocker Boxes polished and then clear coated.
Also since I'm doing a 1250 kit and I'm gonna take my jugs off, HOW should I paint the block? Just mask off my covers and go to town? Will that VHT high heat paint stick? Any input would be great!

Mine is similar to what it sounds like you want to do, with the exception of keeping the rocker covers polished. I powder coated mine gloss black like the side covers. And i used the HD texture black paint, which I highly recommend. It goes on easy and is very durable. I described the process starting on page 11 of the Nightster Winter Makeover thread. I love the look. Good luck.

Then use some high heat primer, then the VHT paint.

And as Kevin said, the real work is in the prep. Take your time on that. The actual painting is easy by comparison.
