Default Opinions on sportster tour trunk

I was looking for opinions of what people thought of putting a touring trunk on a sportster. At the moment I have big saddle bags on that to me do not look that good but would like something I could store items in including my helmet.
I found this made to fit a sportster

Here is what I have on now

Since they're quick detachable, I think many of us would love to have one to use on trips.. but they cost way too much to be a viable choice for me.

I put this together using Harley's Detachable Solo Tour Pac Rack, an Ebay trunk (http://www.mutazu.com/) and some aluminum diamond plate with bungee nuts on the sides. The OL refused to put saddlebags on her bike (women - go figure), so I came up with the "package shelf" deal.
I know it's ugly. I don't care. It can be removed. We went thousands of miles with this rig and it held enough for her to motorcycle camp for two week stretches. For what it is and the price, I'm pretty happy with the Mutazu trunk. This rig is for sale, by the way (we sold her Sportster and my Sportster doesn't have a solo seat, so we don't need it any longer).
I realise you're probably looking for a two-up arrangement. You could use Harley's quick detach side plates with a luggage rack your trunk is secured to (omit the sissybar upright). It's been done.

I love it HarleyScuba, if I had any money I'd buy it and remove the diamondplate piece. Storage AND a backrest.. two things I'd love to have on long interstate rides.

First of all, the trunk you pictured is junk. It'll suffice for luggage, but I wouldn't even let my ex lean back against it. A loaded toupak will destroy the handling characteristics of a Sporty. It makes a big difference on my RK, and when I'm solo, the tourpak's in the garage. If you need to carry all that, step up to a larger bike. Yeah, it can be done, but it's DUMB!
