Scrapping pegs.... should be the same as the other xl models but with lower rear suspension. Very reliable and well built

I could be 100% wrong though.

Water intrusion into the fusebox causing corrosion and leaky rocker cover gaskets seem to be pretty popular problems. Other than that they are solid bikes.

+1 What he said!

I will also add Voltage Regulator and/or Stator Issues. Sometimes both parts will fail.

So far I have had all these known issues with the exception of leaky rocker cover gaskets and Stator. Crossing my fingers that I can dodge those two bullets.

The list for what you want to replace may include:
clutch pack to remove the spring-plate
extra oil drain line as these tend to go bad after a while
swap brake disks, their ok but will slowly thin till you need to replace (I installed stainless)

That should get you started.

Anyone else want to tell this guy the truth?

I've had the leaky rocker cover gasket on my 2007 1200C but none of the others. Still using the original battery. I've been caught in 3 storms including 1 hail storm and a couple of showers. Never any electrical issues. I treat electrical connections with Hi Dialectric grease now and then even on the cages. The hail stings your knees and the windshield sounds like an AK47 rattling at you.

The OP is being told the truth. He's getting sound advice. I should have posted the clutch pack issue myself. Those rivets WILL fail, just a matter of time. An Energy 1 Clutch will solve that issue.

Other things you mention are what I would call wear items, not sparadic issues.

cvaria already mentioned that the rear suspension was worse than the taller sportsters. I'll chip in the suggestion that you swap out the front damper rods in favor of longer ones. I replaced the damper rods of my 07 XL1200L with the damper rods of a roadster. As a result, my front forks have more travel now.

I will also add loose fasteners. This is something that still aggravates me to this day; all the vibrations seem to work things loose over time. You will need to constantly check that all nuts, bolts, etc. are torqued to specs.

OK, my list is complete. lol
