Default Clutch cable oil leak

Girlfriends bike is a 2000 883. The adjustment nut on the cable leaks oil. What's the cause, what's the fix? Maybe it's just reminding me to park it in the same spot in my garage

Your talking about where the jam nut is? Mine is clipped up higer than the oil level. However if its where the cable goes into the primary there is an o-ring that goes between the cable and aluminum primary case. You can try snugging it up. Be very careful as they strip too easy. I just stripped mine the other day and had to instal a 5/16-24 helicoil.

Yes, its at the jam nut. I have already changed out the o-ring and drained and flushed the cable jacket. Worked good for 1 ride, then it started leaking again. The fluid level is per the service manual.

I had primary fluid leak, from what looked like the clutch cable at the tranny as you described. I started tightening and messing with it - eventually had to take to the stealership to get it replaced - out $160.

Turns out the leak was actually coming from the tranny inspection window and would spread to other parts. A new inspection gasket and proper torque fixed it. After 4 try's at the stealership. It wasn't until someone at this forum provided a HD service bulletin about this, which I took to the stealership and said... check this out.

In all my trips at the stealership - they were saying that they replaced this gasket, and was written on the workorder, but didn't really do it...

I also have that leak at the jam nut. Deff not from the inspection window.
What size is the o-ring?

I, almost let my bike slip off the big yellow Sears jack and purely muscled it back on. In the process it bent that fitting that threads into bottom of the clutch housing. It never leaked badly but always had a drop of oil hanging off of the cable. I replaced the clutch cable with a Barnett 53" cable, no more leak.
