Yup, been doing this for years. I use a paint marker it does the same thing. Just a quick glance will tell you. I use the 6 o'clock point on just a few critical fasteners.

I do this on the sprocket bolts given the issues some have had with the bolts shearing off. I place a blue dot from a sharpie where the bolt meets the sprocket face.
I've got the safety wire pliers and the stainless steel wire and I still use it from time to time, especially on parts inside the primary on the old scooters.

yes, I use a Sharpie, little dots, color matching my bikes ( I have two bikes). It doesn't come off unless you rub hard with metal polish & gives me peace of mind. Thou I've not had any come loose that I've torqued to specs using blue lock tite
