Default Damn brake light

I replaced both of the brake light switches. I cleaned all connections, and pulled on both brake levers. That damn brake light just won't go off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Been down two weeks and I will not take it to the dealer. I REFUSE.

There is a small "tit" on the front brake lever that is supposed to keep the switch pressed. Check to make sure it has not come out. Do this with one of the wires off the rear brake switch.

Did you check the wires that run in/under/around the rear fender for insulation that has rubbed off causing a ground?

It would help if we knew who you are and what bike you ride...Sportster, but what year, model, etc...don't just "drive-by" with no intro...!!

when reinstalling your front brake levers you have to make sure it is pulled in and slightly away from the switch or you can damage the new front brake light switch putting it on dealer does it all the time they said I did it to mine had to buy another switch and be very careful making sure I did not hit it with sliding my front brake lever back together

Negative ghostrider; in that area a 12V+ signal to ground would cause a dead short and blown fuse...his brake lights are staying "on" so it's got to be a switch/switch wiring issue.

I have same type of issue on my 09 nightster.I have narrowed it down some.If I disconnect the rear brake by pulling of the wire off ,the blade connector down down in front of the rear wheel, the lights work the proper way except the rear brake used by itself doesn't light doesn't of coarse.

Then you sir have isolated your problem. You need a new switch.
