Brake light and rear turn signals wiring question
I have a 2007 sportster 1200 custom, and i just ordered and received a side mount license plate/brake light combo, i have plans on chopping the rear fender and no longer need the stock tail light to be on but when i was taking it off i noticed that the turn signals and brake light where plugged into a bracket in the back of the fender behind the light, and was wondering
A)what exactly it was (or more importantly how i would be able to bypass it or how to relocate it so i can chop the rear fender but still rewire the brake/running light and turn signals)

I chopped my fender and ditched the center tail light. You will need a run/brake/turn module for your turn signals which will make them function as brake lights as well. This plugs inline between the main harness and the rear harness under your seat. You will then cut the wires where they entered the stock center taillight. Using a diagram from the service manual, you can then figure out how to rewire the turn signals and side mount brake light.

The Nightster has a converter module, a chopped rear fender (d'oh), and special side wiring and brackets to facilitate the turn signals doubling as brake-and-running lights.
Ronnie's HD has online exploded parts diagrams detailing what you'd need.
