Default security remote

So I've had my bike nearly 2 years and put @10,000 miles on it. I've always had the the security system remote attached to my key and rode with it that way. Twice in the last two weeks I've been riding down the highway at @70 mph and my bike has just died. On both occasions the key was turned back to the acc position and just simply turning the key back on fixed the problem. The only thing I can think of is that the remote on the key chain is catching too much wind and shutting the key off, but why did it just start this now after 2 years and 10,000 miles? Needless to say I took the remote off the key ring and I'm hoping this fixes the problem but why did it just start happening?

Probably the key spring just weakened up a little from normal wear or the detent got worn from the Fob whirling around in the breeze. I don't put anything on my key except a red ribbon and it whirls in the breeze but is nearly weightless. I lost the key at the Richmond county fair the first year I owned the bike. Luckily then ext day I psrked in the smae spot and as I dismounted I saw the sun glinting off of something, it was my key. It has worn a red ribbon ever since.

Also not a fan of key rings. I normally ride with my FOB in my back pocket. The ribbon is a good idea, cause the HD key is bloody small and can easily go missing.
