Default Just did a tank swap, have some questions.

Like the title says I did a gas tank swap on my 05' sportster. I went from a 3.3 to the 4.5. I noticed right away that the 4.5 sits lower because of the larger size, and this cause some wires and hoses to be pushed down. I attached a couple pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. The gas line from the petcock is pressed down and the spark plug wires are also pressed down and touching the top of the motor. I don't recall if the wires were pressed down before the swap or not. Does any of this look like it could cause a future problem? Thanks for any help.

Definitly pay mind to fuel line routing or bending. If its kinked at all, you will starve the bike of fuel at higher rpms. Aftermarket petcocks are available with fuel hose barbs pointing in different directions to make routing easier.

other than what has been stated (fuel line) any non-protective wiring that maybe in contact with the heads you may want to reroute..

what about raising the front of the tank about 1/2" to get it off the tubes. wires etc. Easy to make your own brackets & do

I was able to lift the tank back up and tuck the wires in better. It seems to be fine now. The gas line is pushed down but it's not pinched. I'll see how this works for a while but if I notice any problems I'll have to do a lift. I'm trying to avoid a lift because I'm trying to get the most capacity from my tank.
