Default My take on the DIY air filter...

Since I have had my bike, I have tried out different air filter setups. I had previously purchased two different intakes from vendors, as well as making the mreed diy. While all of them worked, I still had a vision of wanting something different than everyone else. I love the look of the engine itself, and to me, the intake gets in the way of that. Well, no more.

I made my intake plates clear, added three support tubes to ensure even filter seal, and put a larger K&N filter on it. The result, especially during the day, imho, is awesome. I will let you judge for yourself however There is a pic of the parts, and two shots of the intake. I will get some better pics later today.

This was my test intake, and there are definitely some improvements I will be making in the next version (most notably, increasing plate size to help deflect heat and draw in air, playing with bolt attachment, etc). After riding with it in all conditions, there have been no issues. I like the larger filter as my IATs have been much lower at speed. The intake does not touch my leg.

How about adding some pinstripes or tint it to match the bike. I love the fact companies charge $300 for something you can make for $10 that may work just as well.

Looks like one of the DK intakes. I painted the inside of mine red. Worked out pretty good.
