Default Screeching Noise in fuel tank

So when I haven't started the bike for about a week or so when I turn the key on and hit the run switch it screeches for a few seconds until it has stopped priming to start it. It only does this is there is at least 4 days in between starts.

Any idea what this could be?

My fuel pump sounds like that when it fires up after not being started for a few days, as far as I know It's normal.

My 09 883 did the same thing today after not being started for 5 days. I have had this happen in the past too only after not starting the bike for an extended period. I do not think it is a problem.

Completely normal.

Its the fuel pump priming up to the correct pressure so you can start the bike.

Remember these are EFI bikes and they require "high" pressure fuel delivery, not like the old carbed bikes which were often gravity fed.

Yea. Apparently its normal. After letting my bike sit over the winter for a few weeks at a time, It would start up and screech when I hit the run switch. Just make sure it stops before you try and start the motor, sot he fuel pump is primed.

The first time I turned the key after a 7 month deployment was the first time I'd heard that noise. It almost made me jump it was so loud.

This has been posted a few times before, it's the pump, no worries. When it starts to sound like a grinder you should be concerned...
