Stage 1 isnot really a "kit". It consists of installing a hi flow exhaust, (slip ons or full pipes), a high flow A/C (air cleaner) and usually necessary, therejetting of the carb for the correct fuel/air flow mix since you've increased the air flow with the new exhaust & A/C.

and cost depends on what pipes and A/C you want, as well as if you do it yourself or get it done at the dealer

everybody has to learn some where I see no ignorance in asking a question . first of all I would like to say welcome to the forum . here is an example I have python 3 slip on mufflers , 189.95 , screaming eagle air cleaner , 109.00 dollars and a dyna -jet kit for the carb 74.00 . I done the work myself so roughly around 375.00 for my set up. there are many options out there this was just one example and in no way would I say its the best. it works for me but a good 2-1 exhaust system will make better horsepower and torque.
A bit of advise that will help you tremendously is buy the service manual it will be the best 58.00 you spend and if you dont know something post a question this is a great bunch of guys who will help all they can.

Thanks guys I would have no problems doing my own work.Have been tinkering with bikes for about 30 yrs. but mostly 2 strokes, last 5 bikes I had were 4 strokes (metric). This is my first Harley and it sure won't be my last (always loved Harleys and know the complete history of them). This forum is addictive and a wealth of things can be learned from reading this),if only this snow would disappear.

You got that right, from Windsor/Detroit Mi. Have fun with the newbike. Stage one will allow you to pick up a few more horses, make it run and start better and, in most cases cure the carb blues(coughs) that are a common problem.
