Default Denim 72 tank perfect for vintage looking bike

I was looking to get a 48/72 tank to paint so I could get a nice 60's look instead of the new style FORTY-EIGHT graphics. I found a denim black 72 tank on eBay to paint. Once I got the tank buffed out to a really good shine the graphics ended up looking really good & have a metallic on the grey diamond & the red really looks nice. I may just run this instead of doing any painting, maybe have a little freehand pin-striping done to add a little style to it.

Wow. That looks fantastic. I don't recall seeing a pic of a denim tank being buffed like that. Great job.

Is that a before and after pic? I didn't know it was possible to shine the denim paint. How'd you do that?

Yes, it's before/after

The denim is just a matte clear over a regular black base. The matte clear just leaves a fine textured surface that makes it look matte vs shinny. All you have to do is buff the matte texture out of the clear. Just a couple steps of buffing gets it.

Very nice! I'll cast my vote for gloss paint...I've never liked the matte look.
