I have checked out most of the forums that have a Sportster category and I like this one the best. Great variety of ages, attitudes and interests. I just picked up a 2006 883 "Standard" about a month ago. That is my second Sporty, I had a 2002 1200 Custom that I only partially bonded with because of the oft mentioned vibration issue. I bought the one I have now because I missed everything else about the Sporty except the numb hands. Also could not resist the price of a used 883. Have also had quite a few metrics, started riding when I was 15. Sometimes years past between selling one and buying another. But as you know there is something very special about these crude but satisfying bikes. They remind me of vintage electric guitars and tube amps. When you get them tuned and setup right the music is magic. Anyway mine is undercover now for 2 weeks and will probably be for another 3 weeks or so. Left hip finally blew out a while back and I finally got it replaced 2 weeks ago. Reading all the posts here has really helped pass the time but I can't wait to get back out there. I hope to be able to contribute soon but in the mean time many thanks to all who have posted, always my first stop of the day for interesting stuff.

Yeah, we're quite the eclectic bunch here! Welcome to the forum!
Looking forward to some pics of the bike! When you mentioned vintage electric guitars and tube amps I immediately thought of my Dad's old Harmon Kardon mono tube radio/turntable setup he had when I was a kid...the sound it made when lighting it off, a "click-hummmmmm" - and the smell of dust cooking on the tubes as they lit up orange...ah yute...wasted on the young!
Anywho, hope you get your health back real soon so you can get out there and ride!
