quick wiring question
I was wiring up my new led tail light just now and I connected the ground then touched the other wire and i heard a pop and it shut off. I thought I blew the light but I just noticed my headlight both low and hi doesnt turn on now (front turns still do). So I think I blew a fuse, where is the fuse box so I can pull and check? The pop sounded like it came from under the seat roughly.

thats the fuse box - no reason to remove battery , the cover to the fuse box slides out toward you and up , youll see the fuses under it
same as in my foto - the lil box with the writing on it , in front of the RED + cable
do u have a link to the light u bought ? or photos ?

thats what I bought. I have wired one before but in switching rear fenders i broke my last one. I'll pull the fuse box tomorrow after work and take a look at it. I feel pretty confident I just blew a fuse.

Here's what you're looking for:
It's #4. In that block one of the fuses is blown. The inside of the cover has a list of which fuses are for what. Look for the "lights" fuse. If that's for some reason not it, check "accessory". If that fails...check 'em all.
There should be a bunch of spares there, if they haven't been used. Your panel will tell you which ones are spares.

lat'man, now's your chance to remember one of the most commonly undertaken courses of prevention when doing any electrical work: disconnect the battery [power source]! It only takes a few moments and you'll avoid such instances of "BZzzzzaP!! Uh ohooops, I touched the damn hot wire to ground, [insert: multiple expletives of your choice]!!!"
