This is good information. I never knew there was a difference between a trickle charger and a battery tender.....

Good catch. I'm not trying to put out bad info. I guess I just never knew its real name. The dealership gave me mine when I purchased the bike and in the winter, the Sporty that goes down for maintenance gets the tender.
I went ahead and updated the posting.

Mine did this a lot last season, it ended up being the ground cable connection at the battery terminal. I used copper wire to make a better connection, because cleaning it did not work and it actually began to melt the terminal a bit.
Check fuses as well, as I had one that was blown.
Batteries Plus is one suggestion for a reasonable battery.
