There is no real advantage by putting it down on the side other than many think it looks better - kind of like changing your derby cover or grips from stock to something you like better.. no real advantage but it makes you happier.

Well... I laughed at some of the responses. I questioned why would you want to relocate it when it looks so good where it is... and after riding a bit this bike, I think I will do it for the two following reasons:

1. Glare from the sun... the glare just hits me right in my eyes...
2. I can move the tool bag over the headlight and avoid it hitting the fender...

There! Two reason that have nothing to do with looks alone

I am now a believer...

Instead of opening a new thread... hope the OP does not mind..

I ordered these

HD SPEEDOMETER COVER, BACK - Part No. 67320-95
HD SPEEDO/TACH RR CUSHION - Part No. 67104-95

I was looking at cool looking alternatives. So going with this handlebar clamp:

And trying to decide between this speedometer holder

or this one:

Some people just want to change the look of their bike to set it off from the crowd. It's just something different, that's all.

Is that a shift light that you have mounted to your bars? For your bar end mirrors did you just pull those little HD caps off the end of those grips? Have the same pair and once I get my clip ons I'd like to mount a pair of bar ends as well.
