New member with Iron 883 question
Hey everyone!
Having threatened to get my bike license for a while (I just got my drivers license last year) I'm, somewhat predictably, thinking of getting the Iron 883. For all the styles of bike out there I've always had a real soft spot for the Sportster style/ cafe bike style. AS an example my car is an old Audi A2 and I love it for it unique styling and suits my needs perfectly.I didn't buy it because it was an Audi, or because it had a prestige badge. I've driven other cars which are faster etc but I just love the styling and design of it. I nearly wish it wasn't an Audi due to people misconceptions about 'Audi drivers'. I feel exactly the same about the Iron 883 - out of all the sportster style bikes it's just the one which I feel is the right fit for me.... just like my little ol Audi A2!
I'd like to hear opinions from actual Iron 883 owners or those who have some experience on one and what they feel are 'real world' mods which will improve ride comfort, braking etc, what adjustment/new foot pegs to prevent scraping on the road etc. - y'know practical, road tested improvements! I know that many idiosyncrasies make a bike that more special and while I don't mind preserving the ethos of the bike I still want it to be comfortable and add my own touches.
I know there is much debate out there (or inflated opinions) over which bike is the best in this category/price range but the styling of the Iron 883 is much more to my liking but some real world numbers do suggest the the Iron 883 could probably be modded to make it a better riding bike compared to it's main competitors including the Shadow, Bonneville etc.
Any info is appreciated and I hope to be getting out for a test ride really soon.
