Default Exhaust advice - too loud??

Hey everybody - I just bought an 09 1200 Custom with Vance and Hines Sideshots for my wife. She loves the bike, but the pipes are "way too loud!". Personally I think they sound great, but if she's going to ride, I need to quite it down. Should I try and add the Quite Baffle, or should I start from scratch, and buy something completely different? Everything else on the bike is stock. I've read mixed reviews on the baffle, but I hate to spend a lot of money on new pipes if I don't have too. I'd appreciate any advice or thoughts! Thanks in advance.

Dunno about the Side-Shots, but the unbaffled Comp Series Pipes i got on the Sporty are obnoxiously loud. They sound great, but will make your head throb after riding all day. May get baffles one day.
When i got the exhaust for the old man's Street Bob i got the baffled Fat Cat's from D&D.
It's nice to ride something a little mellower sometimes - it's far from 'quiet', but i'm sure the neighbors appreciate the difference when i come home from the bar late at night on the Dyna rather than the Sporty!
Both the baffled and unbaffled pipes i've heard still sound good - the 'quiet' ones are just a lot less raspy and knock some of the harsher, higher frequency notes outta the V-twin symphony.

Bottom line, do whatever makes her riding experience better, keep momma happy!

I have the quiet baffles in my sideshots and they are still loud but less raspy. After some carbon buildup in the pipes they sound much better.

you could try some QB's from Hard Kore Baffles

I added a set of HK QB's on the QB's of my V&H Shortshots (they mount together with some modifications done to the HK QB's),
still a tad loud for my taste when I start it up at 6am..but I did notice a slight noise reduction

Added the V&h quiet baffles to my short shots. I am very happy with the change, it quiets them down by about half at idle. Deepens the tone and gives you back some power from lost back pressure.

I think I'll try the baffle route for now. Seems a lot cheaper than a whole new system. Besides, I really like the looks of the sideshots. I'll keep ya posted on the results. Thanks for the feedback!
