Default Gas Mileage woes...

Basically I bought a slightly used iron 883 with 2250kms on it this spring/summer. It has a Stage 1 Screaming Eagle Breather, and Vance and Hines slip-ons. Nothing too crazy. Anyhow. I realized about a week ago that my Fuel economy has been poor to say the least. I'm running through some mileage tests with it now. First tank I got 155kms out. That was a tank filled almost completely. Today I just filled it literally to the brim.

Basically what I'm asking, is my Gas Mileage normal-ish or is something going wrong. I'm worried that the previous owner did not do the necessary ecm changes.

Bike was bought from a dealership.
I am slightly heavy handed with the throttle though when doing my testing I've been driving like a granny.
I've also noticed at times a slight backfire on deceleration. But this is probably 1 or 2 times out of ten. Any help would be appreciated.

That's like 33ish mpg? Yeah, seems a bit low. I don't think that a dealer ECM flash would drop it that much, if at all. Are you sure that there have been no other fuel mods? Maybe XiEDs? A Fuel Pak hidden somewhere?

As far as I can tell, (I'm no gearhead least not yet...) It has nothing but cosmetic mods aside from the screamin eagle stage 1 breather and the slip-ons.

I haven't opened it up or anything to find xieds or any fuel paks yet so that's possible. But I would assume that would've been listed when I bought it at the dealership.

I'm going to run this next full tank and see what my results are and probably go from there.

Btw before its mentioned lol. I realize I'm switching between liters, miles, l/100km and mpgs a lot. I live in Windsor a border city near detroit. It's normal lol. If someone tells me the temp in Celsius I'm like wut farenheit tyvm.

Edit I just realized its about 34.6 mpg. So yeah somethings messed....

How can we know if your mileage is good or bad if you dont state what your mileage is?

I've been to Windsor and avoided Detroit! It would be worth calling by the dealer you bought it from and asking them what they can tell you about your bike. If the mods were done by a dealer they should be on record. If they aren't on record the previous owner may have done them. Here in the UK when buying my SuperLow new, my dealer offered a stage 1 package that included air filter, mufflers and SE tuner, however I get the impression that by no means all dealers do that. SO there is no certainty your bike is as well set up as it could or should be!

When I bought my used 2004 sportster from the dealer, I asked about the bike's history. I requested the last oil change milage, when the belt was changed last, what kind of maintenance was done. The dealer didn't know. I think they just have the service dept. safety check it for the sale and that's it.
When I got the bike home, I dismantled the carb to find the wrong jet (#90 should have been #60). with original pipes and air filter. I purchased a carb kit from J&P Cycle.
Now it runs right and the average milage over the past year is 58.62 mi/gal
I always buy the highest premium available and only regular gas when I can't get premium.

well second tank is going well, Fuel light came on around 115kms whereas the previous tank was 85. Checked the tank and I still had tons of gas left. I may make 200kms on this tank fingers crossed.
