I can stop laughing, I remember the first day out on my own... Must have stalled the bike a couple of times... And trying to be so aware that I possibly made all the mistakes possible. To the point that when I get to a stoplight a guy on a motorcycle in the next lane tells me to take the MSF! which I had taken that week!!! LOL!!!

Mustang seat or MeanCityCycles, can't go wrong with either one.

First ride on my sportster was from the dealership. Guy wheeled it out back of the shop. Said off you go lol. I checked where the friction zone was for a few seconds and then peeled out. Stalled only twice on the first day and that was it. Only issues I've had has been my throttle hand. Gotta stop throttling so hard on shifts.

Someone posted about being sore after the MSF. Oh boy was I ever sore. For like a week I felt it. Little Suzuki 250's had my legs seizing up when I woke up the day after passing my course. Legs felt like linguine after that one.

I put a Mustang (not Wide) Vintage on my Nightster and it was much more comfortable to ride for long periods.

Yep...it's called a "touring bike."

JK...for your Sporty rear issue, look into testing some HD seats (dealership has demo units) and then adding a rider backrest really helps w/lower pressure points. Gotta get that thing feeling like a recliner. Good luck & ride-on!

Two words Sick Saddles. Got my custom solo seat done up by them for about $125.00. Looks great, its plenty comfy for my skinny ***, and they also have a memory gel seat if you want to get crazy. I'm more distracted by my hands getting sore on long trips than anything. http://www.sicksaddles.com/

So let's see. Mr. Wrenchy:

drives with only a permit
never rode a bike
never drove a standard transmission
stalled only *6-8 times
*in mostly heavy traffic

And the only thing he's worried about is his tail bone hurting from his seat ?

WTF!!

I sure hope the next installment doesn't read like this:

"I got in a wreck and my bike is totalled, I got 14 tickets from the cops, I go to court on Tuesday, I'm wheel chair bound now, so anybody wanna' to buy a slightly used Mustang seat?"

WrenchyDude, please get thee to a MSF course and ride along with someone who's licensed on some less than average travelled roadways/big parking lots and practice the use of your controls, stopping/starting, gear changes, turns, etc. To just go out there and have at it is dangerous for a beginner, no matter what you or your friends may say.

=8^)

I appreciate feedback from all on everything. I will be taking a MSF course as soon as one opens near me. That was the plan before I even got my bike signed for. The next one is not until 8/12 and I will be in that. Looks like I'll be leaning toward the Mustang seats from all the feedback on those.. but I will see if it get better as I ride more before I go drop ~$300 on a seat

Don't panic let your butt get used to the seat and the seat get used to your butt. Give it time.

Agree with pretty much everything ive read here. First off take the course. I rode dirt bikes for 19 yrs before street and I learned a lot at the class. And second get a few 'hundred' miles on your current seat before you go drop money on a new one. My stock seat on my forty eight sucked, yet I rode it 700 miles before I went with the hd brawler. It's pretty comfortable, but I notice I'm needing to stretch about everytime the fuel light comes on. I've never heard a complaint about the mustang seats tho.
