Default 2013 48 handlebar swap

Best I can tell I will need a new brake line for anything but drag bars.

Would like to try the frisco bars but don't see how the stock brake line will work.

Anybody swapped to the frisco bars and what did ya do for the brake line?

any bar over 8"s tall will need a longer brake line. 10" bars and under you will still be able to use all of the other stock cables. I have 10" bars with 1" risers and only had to replace the brake line. You can get a "build your own" steal braided kit through Magnum Shielding for around $55.

Thanks,

I have read that in several places but I just don't see how a 8" bar would work with the stock brake line. Do the earlier model 48's have a different brake line?

Mine has about 6" of brake line down to the handlebar mount then goes to a rigid metal line to under the fork bracket then back to brake line to the caliper. I don't see much slack in the top portion of the brake line, pretty tight on the stock bars.

Idk, just don't see a swap without a new brake line.

The 48's; maybe other Sporty's; come with the metal/rubber brake line. A steal braided line will be much better. Best bet is replace it. Rubber expands with brake pressure and reduces stopping power. Steal braided wont. A cheap and much better replacement. Don't try and bend the metal line, that will make it weak and you will have a chance of it cracking under pressure.

Makes sense. I check into a new brake line either way now.

Thanks again.

I swapped out my bars for RSD Vintage Motos and 1.5" risers and still have a bit of brake line left. You could prob get away with 6-8" bars like others have said.

Those are really nice but way out of my budget.

I think I will just go with the keystone bars. Should be safe on all the cables and wires and I do like them better than the frisco bars. For some reason I thought the keystones had more pull back than 2".
