Default sportster hunting questions

may be looking at a sportster in the near future, but I have a few questions.

is there anything special I need to look at on a sportster?

I am looking specifically at a Low model preferably, what does it take to convert a standard into a low if needed?

will a sportster fit into the back of a pick-up, assuming I can load it?

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking used? If so here is a few things to keep in mind:
2004 and up are rubber mount
2007 and up are fuel injected
Sportster will fit in the bed of a truck but you still have to get it in and out.

What part of Texas do you live?

Along with prev post if you go with an older model just stay clear of the 1986 model as it has some quirky things that were changed in 87 other than that the evo sporty's are rock solid.

I am in Houston,
I am not looking pre 05, because of the rubber mounted motor, I hear it makes a big difference, 07 or later would be nice but it does not look like funds will allow.

Good luck hunting...I do not have any suggestions, but I own a 2001 1200C, solid mount and carbed with no issues!

Cool pay the man!

i've owned six brand new sportsters. a 1973 and a 1977 iron heads, a 1999 and a 2001 evo solids, and finally a 2008 and a 2009 rubber mounted, fuel injected models. the rubber mounted, fuel injected models are the best harley has ever made! i ride 500 miles a day on tour, that's where a rubber mount pays for itself! cheers from montana

+1 on the Rubbermount. I'm on my ninth Sporty since 1964, and my current 2006 Roadster is the best yet. Only thing I would trade it for is an EFI Roadster, but have had absolutely zero problems with the carb.
