If that's the case, you remembered you left it on and turned it off before the battery went dead. You can't bump start a FI bike that actually has a dead battery, because there's no juice left to power the fuel pump.

I had to jump an EFI Road King.
Battery was strong enough to cycle the fuel pump and lights but not enough juice to turn the starter (click click).
Car OFF, positive to starter on bike, negative to frame and bike was started.
If battery is 100% dead and can not run the pump then a no go situation would be likely.
Seems like 4.5 to 5 years is the limit even with a tender on my bike.

i think that depends on the size of the hill, maybe one of thses days i'll toss a dead batt in my bike and try it.
