Default Front and rear break adivse,Wanted

I'm going to be cleaning my front and rear brakes tomorrow, weather permitting. I own a 2013 Iron, and have been surfing the net for tips, bolt sizes, type of cleaners (parts or brake cleaner), DIY's, how to's, etc.. And I'm not really finding a whole lot. Everything I find has some sort of negative review.

Font brake started squeaking at about 100km, and the rear at around 650km, and I'm sitting on 825km's. I can hear the front and rear brake make a rubbing sound when I push the bike in neutral, when the bike is off, and the front brake sqweaks when coming to a stop.

Anyone have a good vid to share and or straight up advise. If a cleaning doesn't do the job and need to replace the brake pads, what do you recommend? Not looking for a debate but reviews on pads.

I've been told by some that's its easy, and others its hard and I should take it to the dealer ship, only problem with that is the dealer ship is 380km away.

Thanks, Cat.

Depends on what you mean by cleaning? Just cleaning the pistons: http://www.lyndallbrakes.com/service-tech/

Caliper rebuild, refer to the service manual.

And finally, that slight dragging sound you're talking about, it's extremely common on Sportsters. I find it hard to believe that a <1000 mile bike is having caliper problems. Are the rotors getting too hot (turning blue)?

I was going to remove the pads and give them a give them a bit of a scrub. I haven't noticed them turning blue, but I have noticed these lines around the brake disk.

My 2012 48 does this. I assumed it was normal.

Also, since your bike is a 2013, I guess you could just take it in if you think anything might be wrong.

Everything except the squeak sounds normal to me. Every bike I've ever been on had brake drag. I think it's just proper adjustment. Lines in the rotors as long as they aren't deep is normal too. IMO

I was thinking it was some salt or dirt. Little soap and water I hope fixes this, but if the brake discs don't smooth out, I don't know.

With those few kms on, you have a service due very soon, at around 1500 km I would guess. Get your dealer to look at it under warranty, no harm will be done on a new bike until then. If you plan on doing your own servicing, get yourself a factory service manual while you are there!

Thanks
I took a look at it today, I didn't take the calipers off, just did a visual. Rub rings around the brake disc, nothing major, so ill wait until the first service.
Thanks again, Cat

I sanded down my pads. (knock the glaze off) and put BG brake anti squeal on the pads. Your pads are probably This works great on cars and bikes. Your pads are probably glazed.
