Default Please Help...Pipe/Air Filter/Fuel Management ,decision

Hi Forum....
Need a little help here.....

I'm in the process of looking to do, for what I believe is a Stage1 Upgrade....

I Have an "07" EFI, Sportster, XL50....

My thought choices are this;

>>>> Vance & Hines for the Pipes, HS slipon's....approx..270.00
>>>> Dyno Jet,Power Commander Fuel Management System.... 300.00
>>>> Screaming Eagle Air Filter....150.00
install labor....200.00
dyno labor...200.00

total=1120.00

The thing is this.... My one Dealer says that I'm better off with the Harley Race Tuner.... ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS???

I also heard from 2 dealers that the V&H fuel management unit is not so good.... and to go with Dyno Jets, power commander...even though most dealers seem to like the Power commander.... my dealer says i'm better off with the Race Tuner....

Here is my other delema.... I cant seem to find a nicer lookin/performiing air filter system than the Screaming Eagle.... Does any other companies make a nice looking round one for "07" EFI's that also performs well...?????

anyone that can help..... my appreciation would be grand....

I believe that thePower Commander III will eliminate your O2 sensors (not good), and the race tuner will use them. I just ordered the race tunerfromhttp://www.chicagoharley.compart #32107-01G for 20% off and no sales tax. Good luck with your decision

Drummer, unless you are going to do other engine mods (cams, heads, pistons, ect.) then why spend the money for the tuners. If all your going to do is the mufflers and A/C, then the route to go(imho) is get the Stage 1 download. Its around $150, and it adjusts air/fuel mixture, forthe upgrades you have listed.

I can't speak intelligently about the EFI as I own a carbedxl1200c but I'll note the Stage 1 is definitely a performance upgrade.
I DIY'ed the Stage 1 on mine for under $500, $300 for a Samsom full exhaust system, $25 high and low jets, SE A/C kit.
The total of $1120 for stage one would give me a heat attack and I'd avoid that at all costs...[sm=drlove.gif]

OK, here's what I would do:

V & H SS HS Slip ons very yes! HAd them on my 883C and people wouldn't believe it was "only" an 883 after they heard it great sounding pipes and they fit on the headers real good.

Power Commander, I say yes. You will lose your 02 sensors but with the PCIII you don't need them anyway. It sits between your bike and the ECm and spoofs it out without making any permanent changes to the bike (that part is VERY important). Take off the PCIII, put your stocks back on and you are back to stock - no "ifs" "ands" or "buts" about it.

I would go with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C, it has better performance than the SE (IMO) a metal backplate instead of plastic and breathes throughthe mounts.

Save the money on the labor and put it on yourself (really it's not hard) I did mine in an afternoon and it was the first time I ever wrenched on a Harley.

Spend the $200 Dyno money on a Dyno-guy who has the PCIII software (PC Link I think its called), it dials in every setting on your ride and gives you top performance with a rock steady fuel air mixture. You can acheive the saem without the software but it takes much longer.

Finally, again very important, DON'T WASTE MONEY ON THE DEALER STAGE 1 DOWNLOAD if you are going with a PCIII or other aftermarket parts. The Stage 1 download alters your ECM for SE breathers and mufflers only.

Drumer the only thing my dealer said about the warrenty was if I didn't get the Stage 1 download, with the S/E A/C, with my baffles removed," it could' affect my warrenty. Notice the "it could", wasn't a definite answer. So I had it done, and for now, everyone sems happy.
