Folks that call Sporsters "Girls" bikes are either ignorant or never road one. I will never get rid of my ol' shovel, but I'm about to pick up an Ironhead Sporty as a little hot rod project. I really miss my old ironheads, they are a hoot to ride.

You gotta figure less that probably less than 1 in a thousand HD riders even visit forums like these. Most women don't like Sportsters for the sole fact that Dyna's , Softails and even baggers are better balanced, easier to handle machines namely at slow speeds where stability is most important to most riders. Nobody called my 650 Special in 1982 a girls bike so my 883 must be a monster .

I cant justify spending 20k more for a bike that can't do anything my my Sportster can't do. Girls bike rider 4ever. Turn off the internet and nobody gives a squat about what size bike you ride.

I would have said the an RK guy that anyone can rack up miles on a rolling couch. It takes real ***** to do 2500+ miles on a Sporty.

Well, I like some other models, but love my '04 Sporty. I'm the original owner. I find no problem with the ride/feel. I've been told they're top heavy...really? I can't tell. She's fit to me: mini apes, Mustang solo seat, Cycle Visions Moflow intake and V&H straight shots to name a few. Our longest trips (on a yearly basis) was ME to OH and back. I'm 5'5", 105. Most comments I get when someone asks what I ride is: "isn't that bike too big for you?" or "when are you going to trade it in for something bigger?" My response is no and if I did buy another bike, the sporty isn't going anywhere.

The hubby likes to ride it on occasion, because it's lighter and fast. He has a '12 Ultra and '02 Springer.

Anyone that actually knows the history of Sportsters and was riding bikes back in the 50s/60s/70s would never call a Sporty a girls bike, but these days most of the new age bikers don't really know anything about motorcycle history nor do they really care. Different world and what Harley is today is definitely not what it use to be before.

Should have told the dummy, Sportsters are "dirt" bikes, not Girls bikes.
