Default How important is the 1000 service?

I am leaving on a trip in a little over a week. I only have 400 miles on my bike with no chance of being close to 1000 miles for the service. How important is the service? Is it something that I really need to worry about?

I get the oil needs to be changed and some adjustments.

I've heard it said many times that the "1000 mile service is the final step in the manufacturing process".. tightening critical fasteners and the like. I would get it done as close to 1000 as possible, and that's one service I'd actually take it to the dealer for. I would not cancel my trip because I was afraid of crossing the 1000 mile mark before I got home though.. that's just me.

its important enough that if you dont do it, it voids your warranty.. i'd find a dealer and get it done out on the road, it takes a couple hours, you can have a nice meal while you get it done.

Hopefully you can find a dealer that will do it without an appointment.

Google map your route and see where you'll be around the 1000 mile mark, find the nearest dealer and make an appointment.

Important.

Make an appointment with a dealer ~600 miles from the start of your trip.

you don't have to do it right at 1000 miles just do it right after you get back from your trip.
