Default New and learning, need advice!

Recently bought my first Harley, a 1992 sporty. Got it all fixed and painted and ran into an electrical problem. The battery went out on me or so I thought. Got a new one and same problem..started fine until riding for a bit, then no juice. Something is draining it quickly. Just curious if any suggestions as to what i should check first. I can jump it and it runs fine but once killed it has no fire at all.

Do you have a multi-meter? I would suggest to check the charging system first, hook up the meter across the battery terminals, it should be around 14.x volts while the bike is running at idle, if it is reading 12 volts or less, it does not charge. Chances are the alternator or voltage regulator not working properly.

Thanks, took care of problem today. It was the altenator. I was worried that some wires were damaged on re-assemblyafter paint.
