Need help with pillion seat!!!!
I just picked up my pillion seat from the dealer today. When I tried to install seat according to instructions I noticed the cross member under the fender already has a threaded nut attached and the retaining nut in the kit won't fit. I'm afraid If I install the screw with the seat tab, I'll scratch the fender.
Does anyone have any exp with placing a rubber or plastic spacer between the tab and fender? Will this be secure enough?
Just thought I'd throw this out here before I go back to the dealer with my tail between my legs.
Thanks, Jim

RE: Need help with pillion seat!!!!
I'm not totally sure I understand. But when I installed a pillion seat, the screw that the solo seat was attached to, was moved to the rear hole, that from the factory has a plastic plug. The mounting tab from the solo seat attaches to the pillion from the underside. When I took that seat combonation all, and replaced with the Sundowner, there was a bit of rubbed off paint, but nothing that would have been seen with the seat in place.

Therear seat position hole already had a screw in it, not a plug, and it was fastened on the undersidewith a nut that was welded to the cross member under the fender. The hole doesn't even have a notch in it like the forward hole or the new retaining nut that can with the kit. The seats merged together nicely so I'm assuming they sold me the correct seat for my bike.
