why do they say the sportster has a 4.5 Gal Tank??

so if it's really 4.5 gallons and we hit reserve around 2.8 gallons, that means there is 1.7 gallons of reserve,,,, I guess some of the fuel sits in the bottom and is unusable.
the tank may have a volume of 4.5 gallons, but only about 3.5 gallons of it is usable.
it's a selling point, people buy this bike thinking they are going to get a fuel range of atleast 150 miles....but I'm not complaining because I really like the look of the tank and I'm glad they didn't make it bigger.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but after reading on here and other places on the web, the older models have the 4.5, but mine at least has the 3.3 gal tank and the mileage is correct for that size and the fuel light coming on. Mine uses 2.2 gal before light comes on and goes 100 miles on avg.
