busted turn signal stalk bolt today
today i noticed that both taillights were loose, so i thought,,,hmmmm this will be an easy fix.
i then got my ratcheting 1/2 box wrench, an inspection mirror, and started tightening the nut....one turn,,,kinda hard to turn this thing......snapppp.
bad news is...i cant bring the bike in right away, maybe saturday, so i jimmy-rigged it with 100 mph tape. anyone else been this stupid?
and one question befiore i start wrenching on the other side...is there a trick to doing this delicate operation?

RE: busted turn signal stalk bolt today
Finally got tired of mine getting loose all the time. Had to remove shocks and fender strut covers to get at the bolts every time to avoid bending the covers. So Today the Final fix was to jack up rear, remove shocks and fender strut covers and leave them off forever(fender strut covers). Looks cool all black with polished bolts in original holes. Used long fine thread bolts and inserted them from inside the fender, screwed them tight right into the light housings.( Lots of locktite ) That should take care of any future problems. The original design sucks big time. It is faster and easier to remove the shocks, jack up the bike for tire clearance and insertnew bolts from inside the fender. If you want to keep the original chrome fender strut covers all you need to do (after above removal) is insert a long bolt, add a spacer 1/4 inch thick(I think) on the outside of the strut, put the covers back, on srcew them down and install your lights . Use locktite on all the fasteners (blue). I threw away the light stalks that were 2.5 inches long and used some 3/8 x1/2 inch chrome tubing for the stalks. This brought the lights in closer to the struts. I am sure the reason the lights get loose, is that they stick so far out we probably kick them a fair bit. Thats it, hope this helps Mark,,,
