Default Will flipping my mirrors scrape my tank?

I want to flip the mirrors on my '13 Iron, but I've heard mixed reviews about 'tank scrapage. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Was thinking of flipping mine, but as long as I don't have to wear a jacket I can see alright with the stock position, plus I got 2 inch extensions which help some,

A measuring tape will give you a general idea if its going to work. Just flip them and turn carefully when checking clearance

'k36,

I couldn't see jack [I guess I'm too wide at 6'-0" and 220 lbs.] with the mirrors in their factory position so that was one of the first things I did on my bike. I just took some measurements, and with the stock mirrors flipped on my '09 Iron, which should be identical to your '13 unless HD changed the handlebar design/dimensions for that year, I measure 2.25" clearance between the mirror and tank on the right side, and 1.75" clearance on the left side. The larger dimension on the right side is due to the proximity of the throttle and brake cables to the mirror stem position on that side.

As mentioned below, it's easy enough to check...simply swap them out, opposite to opposite...but I think you will be fine.

Try one side at a time. Keep the mirror kind of loose and put heavy padding on the tank. Even if it hits the mirror will move and the tank is protected.

i have mine swapped on my 10 Iron. the left side flipped mirror CAN scratch the tank.

I had a set of biltwell Z bars and they did bang the tank, so i went back to stock bars. With the bars in stock position (no tilt) you will be fine, but I like mine tilted slightly towards me so I had to adjust the bars so I can lock the forks with my mirrors flipped.

Now they are perfect!

with stock bars - nope they wont hit ! flips the mirrors - leave them a tad lose, full lock the bars to left - u should have 2 fingers, or if ur fatty lol ,1 finger between the mirror and the tank , tighten up , then adjust mirror- repeat for right side - they will not hit.
had mine that way first day i got the scoot , no worries , youll be fine
be sure to locktite them they will get lose if not used - then u will run into problems
good luck

I flipped them on my 2004 xl. Just leave them loose, turn the bars full lock and tighten them just away from the tank. Piece-O-Cake.

Edit: Just noticed I need to update my photo.

Put the left on the right and the right on the left. You should be fine. Make the adjustments first before you tighten things up. Just turn the bar later lock to lock. If it hits the tank make more adjustments. Very simple.
